I am amazed at the wisdom and knowledge that Scott has with Al (Artificial Intelligence). His years of experience, combined with his extensive Ph.D. studies, make him one of the industry’s most trusted advisors/consultants. If you are looking for a company that knows what they are doing with Al, look no further than Knowledge Reactor!

Scott Gerard was a core team member and crucial design, engineering and analytics contributor to our IoT Eldercare project. His technical skills and creativity made the difference time and again. Scott’s data analytics skills are first rate, and his willingness to “dive in” and generate solutions to the project’s many practical and operational challenges led to his receiving a coveted performance award. We won’t start another IoT project without him.
Sam Adams, IBM Distinguished Engineer, MetaCognitive Technology
Scott is an incredible problem-solver. He built the entire server-side infrastructure for our project based on a large, contextual, reactive, graph database and Kafka streaming, and automated everything for quick turn around for feedback and new requests. After deploying over 1000+ sensors in a care facility in Oregon, we worked closely together to infer Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) from the large unlabeled IoT dataset captured, using both rule-based and machine learning-based approaches. We published two academic papers describing our work and filed several patent applications based on our novel approaches.

Dr. Gerard from Knowledge Reactor provided a fact-filled, tour de force of AI and ML. It dramatically helped me and my team get a firm grounding in all the elements of AI and ML that we needed for our business. Dr. Gerard’s experience as an inventor on numerous patents provided him with an essential perspective to optimize relevance to my team. He excels at focusing on client problems, is a dynamic speaker, a good mentor, and an AI expert.
I highly recommend him.

Scott quickly created a Deep Learning system for Finalysis after our original Scientist had left the company. Scott is knowledgeable about ML systems and software engineering and can recommend and perform tasks better than most envision. He is easy to work with and always willing to mentor and teach young Data Scientists / Developers. I highly recommend Scott for any ML project; the more complex, the better.
Todd Moses, CEO Finalysis

Device Solutions is a 20 year old, 40 person team entirely focused on embedded electronics and firmware development – we work ‘inside the box’ delivering low power, wireless enabled devices in many industries.
By definition, our expertise is not in AI/big data/data science. For the last 5+ years we have been working with Brightfield.de to develop a low cost device to be installed in the European grid. This device provides robust sensing and computing at the edge, but after years of development and data collection, it was clear that the team needed help developing algorithms in the cloud and in the device to provide insights from the data – including improving energy trading, preventive maintenance, anomaly detection, and grid reliability, all with fewer people and truck rolls.
We reached out to Scott and he was able to quickly understand our data and application and synthesize an efficient approach to curate the data and incrementally distill it into insights.
- First, he performed an EDA (exploratory data analysis) and presented his results to both me, my team and my client.
- My client proposed a simple rule based on temperature. Scott performed an analysis that showed (1) their rule did work in a few cases, but (2) it was “upside down” in some cases, and (3) in many of the cases, results were statistically insignificant (based on Scott’s p-value analysis). My client was excited with Scott’s thorough analysis and appreciated the recommendations.
- Scott did a thorough analysis of another company’s analysis document which was also very helpful to my client.
- Scott then built a neural network autoencoder to detect anomalies on a first batch of my client’s raw data.
- Scott worked with us to prepare a simple presentation explaining how the autoencoder worked and can be used with provided critical insight to the team and enabled them to work more effectively with their executive team.
- Now, my client wants to run the analysis again with a new batch of raw data. They also want the model enhanced to include additional attributes and to analyze devices grouped by device type and similar environment. Scott is currently working on these enhancements.
We have enjoyed working with Scott and are looking to his continued involvement in this project and others. Scott’s ability to jump deep into a long established project and data set was particularly appreciated.
